Do i need an adapter?

    i just bought a '72 buick 455 i wanna run a carter carb i have laying around. it has the stock carb and intake so will i need an adapter to do so?

    im working on a buick 455 myself, it's my first buick build so i don't know the info you need. but have you tried www.v8buick.com ? i think they would be more helpful on the 455 then this thread. but maybe someone here knows..

  5. if it is a Q-jet , which is a spread bore carb ...yes , you will need an adapter to put on a carter , which is a square bore carb

    no big deal...any Pep boys , checkers , autozone will have the adapter for about $20

    Carter sold spread bore replacement AFBs for years ... Edelbrock should still catalog them ...
