More of a banger question but pertains to all. Bangers have so many combinations of non stock ignition systems it’s hard to count.
Different brands of distributors made for conversions and modified homemade repurposed units.

What determines the correct rotation of a given distributor? Is it the orientation of the points to the cam, or the advance weights and the centrifugal mechanism?

I know you can read or ask about a certain unit, but trying to figure out how to determine this to build some conversions.

  2. Advance weights and centrifugal mechanisms.
Twin point distributors have points facing both directions.

    Thanks
I have gear sets that are cut both directions, CW or CCW. And some lock down the centrifugal mechanism so it wouldn’t matter which direction you spin it.
