disk brakes for 50 chevy

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RICK UFO, Mar 6, 2014.

  1. I need to know what roters, calipers and bearings that will fit a 50 chevy 1/2 ton p/u stright axel and part noumbers if anyone knows. and if anyone has any info on 4 linking my rearend thanks rick....

  2. Most of the kits for those use Early 70s GM rotors (74 Camaro), metric GM calipers (80 Malibu fronts) and the bearings are stock to those rotors. The caliper bracket is the same in the kit as the car (they just have 2 different mounting holes), but you must make (or comes in the kits) a inner bearing spacer.

If hoping that there is just a direct replacement without the bracket/spacer,,,, there isnt.

Use a dropped front axle, and put the rear axle on top of the leaf springs.

  8. these year trucks already have the rear over the spring. i guess what im looking for is information on what springs i could use to lower this truck i dont want to spend a lot. if i had the money for droped axel i would go ahead and mustangII the front and jag the rear but im poor. or if there are any threreads on z ing one of these frames ...... thanks

How much drop do you want cheaply / easily ? Start with reversing the spring eyes, and if you have parts truck around, use the front spring bracket in place of the original rear spring bracket. remove some leafs.
