I am doing a disc brake conversion on my 38 ford I beam
    1. I have speedway spindles
    2. I have the caliper brakets for GM calipers.
    3. And I have a set of 40 hubs .
Its sounds like a good start but my question is can I use a hat rotor off of a ford f-150 like a 80s model or maybe a dodge pickup . Has anyone tried this and if so what was the outcome if not am I a first attempt . I really dont want to spend to much time trying alot of parts thats already a failure any help on this would be appreciated . Thank in advance!

but why? Its still gonna look like a disk brake so why not just get the right rotors and bearings and be done with it?

I see where you are coming from but the backspacing on the rotor may not be the same as the one that is the recommended one to use. Most of these setups have been designed around certain pieces and when you try to get away from those pieces you end up with headaches.
