Does anyone know of a disc conversion for a 55 De Soto? I'm starting to get frustrated in my search. I've found them for every year except 55-56. Any help and/or advice is welcome. I'm thinking of a subframe change also if it yields better/cheaper results. Any comments? Thanx. db

Old Daddy,"Rusty Hope" here on the forum makes adapters for the large MoPar front spindles now. He might be listed here under Charlie Akers here on the forum. Do a search for Old Daddy's disc brake conversion. The adapters for the large drum brake spindles is a new product for him. his e mail is [email protected]

I used an AAJ kit on my '56 dodge fairly simple and great quality. I did mine in a weekend. I'm very pleased with it.
I think it'll work for ya.

Have you got contact info for AAJ. I think I heard of them before but I'm old so I'm not sure.

x2 I put one on a 55 desoto, and the power master kit. but the master they sent was bad out of the box. $12.99 for a new one at oreilly, i tried 3 times to rebuild the stocker to no avail. one year only bs.

hard part was reaming the steering arms out. I traded a machine shop for the work.

Thanx for all the response. I spoke to Roger at AAJ Brakes today. He was very helpful and has 2 kits, one for 11" and one for 12" rotors, both same price. I'll check out both kits when I go to Oregon in a couple of weeks. db

Friend of mine took a '56 Cadi into his shop for a disc brake conversion and hydro-boost. He sent the spindle to Master Power Brake and they made everything to fit the Cadi.

Used scarebird on front of 1958 coronet worked perfect. Also used a 8.8 rear out of explorer with disc on rear 4wheel disc brakes on the cheap.

Dodge is Different. Not much swaps between the Mopar brands until the 60s.
Just get the AAJ setup, It fits.

    nice Scarebird!
When I manage to talk my neighbor out of his 55 desoto I will call you. I have been on him for 3 years. So don't hold your breath waiting for my call.

It bolts up fine - just need to see how the hoses fit up and make sure it does not hit anything else.

I was looking at that option but the front steer subframe from the 2nd gen F-bodies puts the steering box right where the radiator sits.
