Hot Rods Direct drive auto box ?

I need info on running an auto box offroad ,using the hydraulic tap method rather than a clutchauto .I know its been done on dirt cars and need to know what is the best auto box to use and where the tap in points for the on /of tap hydraulics go ? About 200hp

i know some of the dirt track guys around here used a Chevy Powerglide setup like that....of course they used a Chevy engine. a guy i know set many of them up. i believe there is no torque convertor used with a direct coupling from engine crankshaft to the pump on the transmission. then a 1/4 turn ball valve to control it...some even hook that to a "clutch" pedal

what engine/transmission are you thinking?
