That sucks....but we will not live forever. Hopefully some of the stuff can find its way back to "us" rather than become part of someones collection.
Wish I was closer to grab a piece of history. There are a lot of pieces on my 32 from Dick. I heard Dick is hanging in there.
Dick has helped so many people locate the parts they needed and shared his knowledge freely,a true icon. We knew this day was coming when his business would be liquidated but as Don eluded it will be a sad day,a end of a era. HRP
End of an era. Always enjoyed Dick stopping by my shop in Nebraska, Miss talking to him and Bill. Wish I was closer.
Nice guy the little bit I dealt with him. Sold him a little Crosley at the Lincoln NE swap meet years ago.
Sure hate to see this come to an end. Great guy with a ton of information he was always willing to pass along for the asking. Wish I was closer also.
I think of him often, for many reasons. I believe he made a very good spindle reaming tool, as many threads about how to do spindles this would be a good oppertunity for somebody to get the right tool for the job from the man himself. It could be a treasure in somebodies tool box.
I visited his shop several years ago and was pleasantly surprised to see happy people, lots of old car stuff and very reasonable prices on what he had. I regret not buying a nice '35 grille that was priced right, just because of the problem of getting it back to Arizona. I hope the best for all involved. Dick will go down in history as one of the good guys of the industry.
I really can't remember when he wasn't in business. Good luck to you Dick, and thanks for all the years.....
If that's too far, come to the Koepke auction in Titusville FL on Saturday the 11th. http://www.vanderbrinkauctions.com/auctions_details.php?detail=165
Wow, sad to hear. My folks used to live in Altamont back in the 80's and I lived in NH. Every time I'd go to visit my folks I'd stop in and see Dick. He always had time to stop and talk.
