    Hi
A friend of mine is restoring his 32 3window to original specs. He have bought a pair of reprop bumpers for it, but he is rather disappointed with the quality.

Instead of the smooth curve at each end they have a rather sharp bend!!

Does anyone know who makes the nicest repop -32 bumpers ?

    Best regards

Mike, I couldnt agree more, but his original bumpers were
more or less destroyed by the rechroming company.

His 3W is nearing completion so for the time being he
is going to use repops. Changing to OEM bumpers later is
of course an option he will pursue.

But for now, can anybody help us in the right direction
finding the nicest 1932 repop bumpers?

    Best regards

Tell your friend to use the repro bumpers to get by and start looking for a really good pair of gennies and then find a chrome shop that has their shit together!

Hmm, the bumpers were rechromed and grinded beyond recognition maybe 30-40 years ago, a bit late to file a claim i guess.

This is the second time he is redoing the 3W.

Seeing that we're talking about bumpers what is the correct shape? I have 2 OG ones which are straight between the mounting bolts but have a mate with rechromed originals which have a slight curve between the mounting bolts. He claims his are correct with the curve!

I gather from the posters comments that the repro ones are not accurate and have read somewhere that they are not made of the correct material-thickness etc? Is this so?

Repops are easly bent also.Just a tap on the ends will bend the bumper at the mounting hole.Ive had 2 bent that way.Ive thought of making a backing plate of some kind for for more support for them.

    Hi thanks for info.

I believe there are different repro bumpers.

I have an old repro bumper that have a different curve
than the ones my friend got.
It is an old repro, but I don´t know who made it.
Dick, were there different manufacturers before?

    Pics to follow tonight.

Here follows a few pics of the bumper line-up.

Repro bumper #1 has a curve more similar to the original bumper than repro bumper #2, which
has a sharper bend at each end. And both repros are more straight.

  14. Find a company that will re-shape the way you want. I've re-shaped several 40 Ford front bumpers to fit on sedan deliveries-woodies & pickups. We have a company in Lakewood Ca that does my work, charges $20-25 a bumper, Carolina Rolling Company, maybe something in your area?
