    If' it's the stock 265 cam, doesn't it have a groove machined in to it for oiling? That could be your problem,too much oil in the rear of the engine.

  5. Maybe stuff the oiler tube with felt. You don't have to oil the bushing anymore do you?

    I can see plugging the feed hole like a later distributor but cutting a slot in the "dam" seems like a bad idea. You're just unnecessarily dumping oil pressure, mostly to the passenger side lifters.
