If I have a Delco Remy 10DN Alternator can I combine it with any Delco Voltage Regulator? Are there different types and if there are differences - how can I see it and wich will work together?
I could be wrong but I thought that a voltage regulator was only needed for a generator. From what I understand the alternator is internally regulated. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
no, the older Delco alternators use an external regulator (for about the first ten years, 1962ish-72). You need the correct regulator. If you provide the number from your alternator, we can help you figure out what it's off of.
Mr. Apache, it's like Jim said: The first Delco alternator 10DN used an external regulator as in the pic I posted. Thanks Jim, that would be a help. I would buy this alternator: >>> and this regulator: >>> Does this work?
I see. So the Ebay-offer I posted is wrong, or? It should be a 1964 Alternator. But there where no internal this year. Thanks for your Ebay-posting. Will that work with the regulator I posted?
The regulator you linked too should work with the alt that I posted. The reason for the other alternator is that the nose of the alt has the numbers on it and they fit the 10si. So someone rebuilt that alt in the past and used the 10dn front case for a later internal reg 10si.
