I'm running a 32 heavy axle on my Zipper and after 20 years, I need to triple check the alignment. The DECO caster/camber tool seems to be geared toward sprint cars. Anybody used one on a hot rod? Thanks in advance.
I have one. It sits in a cabinet unused. This 2"x2"x1" Angle Cube will tell you all you need to know about the alignment of that '32 axle. $20-$25 IIRC. It gets used for a lot more than alignment.
If you have wheels that you can reach the dust cap on the hub on to pop it off this one on Ebay is a tad spendy by comparison to some but works just like my Snap On gauge that is in my tool box. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnetic-C...178218?hash=item56c8732aaa:g:~B8AAOSwk-pZjkUY Usually that design is spot on accurate. I bought one of these a couple of years ago that seems to be fairly accurate https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Adjust...698025&hash=item2a93b19b19:g:Y~kAAOSwHZdbNDn7 I picked up another set used a while back to get the swivel plates that works similar to what you are looking at and is sold for circle track racing.
Thanks to jaw22w...found this in the tool box and was able to set 5 degrees on either side. Was 2 degrees and 6 degrees when I started
Denis - A straight level is checked for level by turning it end for end on the same object. I would be very surprised if the protractor in the photo would read the same if turned 180 degrees. I have & have used many magnetic & digital protractors that rarely check "dead nuts", especially in the $30.00 price range. Most of them will vary by a couple of degrees.
I have a digital 4 foot level that is very accurate. If I set my little cube angle finder on top of the 4 footer, it always reads within .1 degree. 1 or 2 tenths of a degree is plenty accurate for our use.
