  2. October 1967 ALL AMERICAN DRAGS magazine published out of Chicago. Always found it interesting that the magazine address was the same address as HYDRO-MOTIVE RACING TRANSMISSIONS

    LOVE this car!! I remember my Dad, Jim Walraven, Joe Davis, and Wes Ingram were quite the trio when racing this and their other cars. I was pretty young back then, but will always cherish those memories. I was probably around 7 or 8 years old when my Dad would take us with him to Fremont Drag Strips.. This car STILL gives me chills when I see or hear anyone talking about it. Thanks for sharing these.

  11. Thanks HEMI32, great read, great thread, and some very cool stories from some that were there.
    I love reading about the games racers would play, to get a second or two advantage over a compeditor.

    As to the theft of the car, that sure sucks, it would be nice for someone who knows, to come clean with the details, as I'll bet they are still alive, and perhaps even reading this.
    Jealous compeditor perhaps?

    I had the pleasure of seeing the Jewel T run at Fremont in 1968. Since retiring I've taken up building models, and I recently worked up the courage to build the "T". Took me a couple months but I'm happy with the results.

    My pleasure. It just hides in my house, and I finally found a good place to share it.

    Seen Jewel T and Colt 45 both run at Sacramento Raceway, If I remember right 45 had "Fords better idea" painted on the back of it.

    Wow, I'm looking at those rear wheels in the Russ Morris photo taken in 1968. I don't think I've ever seen those wheels in any other photos of the car. And my photos were taken at Fremont in 1968, early August.

    Love it!!! I was stationed at Ft. Ord in 1968, and was probably only a dozen miles from the Salinas track. We went there once in the Spring, but then started traveling 100 miles to Fremont instead.

    Making another plea for photographs of the interior shot of the driver compartment with the cover off! I have contacted Mr. Ingram, Steve Reyes, and various other sources for this visual info. NONE to be found at this point. This is quite astounding to me that there is not one photo of the cars' interior. Why this is needed? I have been trying to build a replica of the car in 1/16th scale. This project requires a lot of scratchbuilt parts. Model manufacturers did not ever make a big block Chevy, Olds rear end, frame, 12 spoke front wheels, etc. Much of this has already been created by me, but I am stumped as to how the rear end was assembled properly as well as how the seat and interior are accurately located. So, I am asking for any help. Please look through your personal photo collections to see if you might have that one elusive photo that may solve my last obstacle in completing my project. Link to the project so far;

  27. Sorry I have no other pics that you need but I checked out your link. What you've done so far is awesome. One question though, Why did you not do the M/T on the valve covers?

    Scripting is/can be the most difficult to capture. That plus I don't want to get a call from some lawyer about using a copyrighted part. The part is a generic BBC valve cover that looks very similar to the real one. The finished car may have the scripting?
