For me, the truth is in the past. A true Survivor is something special. There is nothing more honest, there really isn't.

Sometimes things line up and crazy stuff happens, somehow I ended up with this little roadster! Its so cool I can't even believe it!

There was a couple threads on it last year when it was found. It s a true nut and bolt survivor, It was built in the 50's in CHicago and except for the wheels/tires and some obvious later changes to keep it running it is pretty much untouched. It has a J2 Olds motor, lasalle trans, Auburn dash, white interior, titian red paint. its amazing.

My plan is to get it running and driving, enjoy it for a bit and then probably resell it to buy some stuff for the shop. At least that' s what I told myself when I justified buying it! We will see. Its so awesome, I cant even sleep.

I had my friend Jack Roepke take some photos of it to document it as is, as found. I am planning on swapping the engine for a runner, change out the wheels and tires, make it roadworthy and safe, and just give it some love! I almost feel guilty even touching it..... most every nut and bolt was put there almost 60 years ago. Everything I change out will be stored and stay with the car, if I can swing it, I would like to rebuild the motor thats in it. The replacement is pretty neat in its own right, it was in a 40 merc and runs like a top!

So here it is now and I will update as I go, I would like to have it going for Back to the 50's next month, I don't have a lot of spare time, but I think I can pull it off. We will be filming it as well, should be fun!

So I I got it home and by crazy chance my friend Sam in Chicago was talking to an old timer about hot rods and showed him a picture of the roadster. he was like "thats my car!" and showed same some old pictures..... both cars built in Chicago, both olds powered, both cars had an Auburn dash, although different years, both cars were super low for the time, both cars were painted Titian red, OVER baby blue. what are the chances! I am pretty sure it is not the same car, as there would have been lots of big changes between 1958 and the very early 60's, but the baby blue has me going crazy. It seems they have to be the same car.... but they cant be, but could they be? ha maybe it was in an accident and rebuilt.... ha

this picture is from around 1958.... I spoke to the guy who built it, and both of us agree there are too many differences, but the baby blue deal is killing me...

Awesome roadster, Bob. It would be killer to take to Back To The 50's. You have 30 days, 2 hours, 42 minutes, 18 seconds.....You can do it! Your roadster would look great with Johnny Cola's red roadster.

I don't know, but the chances seem pretty damned good from where I sit. Either way, killer little hot rod, outstanding survivor, fantastic score!

Looks amazing for it's age. I love it just the way it is.
So glad to see it missed the "upgrades" in the last 40 years. It could have become just another belly button street rod.
How much suspension travel does that rear have? The rear view pic kind of looks like the right is a little low, did the frame get tweaked a bit when it was z'd?
