Dana 44 Question

I was given a 3.50:1 ring and pinion set for a (I assume a modern) Dana 44 rear. Does anyone know if I can install this into a 1954 F100 rear that has 3.91 gears?

The carrier break for the Dana 44 is 3.92 & up, and 3.73 & down...so you would need to swap carriers internally. A little more information: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347493 Carriers are available for both spline counts & both sides of the break.
