  1. The side of that car looks like it's made of blown glass. Stunning bodywork and paint, Dan! You must be happy with that.

Yes and I hope the 210 black hard top I'm doing now will be as good or even better if that is possible.

  4. Hey Dan, When you think about do you think that you will ever find your 57 Chevy with the setback engine. I think about every once and a while, I remember buying one of the first magazine that it was in, that was back in my High School days. I was so impressed by the way it was built, always loved that car. I just had to ask to see what your feeling are about it. Also the Black 210 is a very awesome car too. Hope your Xmas and New Year go well for you.

I have nothing to add to this, other than I've been looking at photos of this car for my entire life practically (27, dads old magazines) and always thought the photo of Dan driving it was the coolest. I really hope it's found and put back the way it was.

  8. HAMB seems to have gotten a lot of new guys lately so let's give this a March bump.

'Doc? Do ya think little Sheba will come back?'
Dan's '57 Mid engine Chevy will always be out there, if only in spirit.

Great thread, can't wait for this car to be found. I went to school in southern IL. There's an 1/8 mile track in the area, Benton IL. If the car is being raced, St Louis or Benton would be the spots. Maybe it will generate some new leads.

Do you know how many tri five chevys got crushed

  24. ^Not as many as the other makes those years. Count how many Tri five BOP's, Mercs, Chryslers seen at any venue.
But yeah, unthinkable as it is, the car may be a toaster now.

My father owned this car in the mid seventies.
His name was Larry Barnes and He purchased it I believe in Indiana at a Car Show. There was a new Harley and cash on the deal.My father loved this car and everone that knew him always talks about the mid engine blown 57!
He was killed in an auto accident in October 1977 and the car was kept in my mother's possesion up until around 1980.
It was sold to a gentleman near Alton,Illinois.
Last I heard the car was in Brighton,Illinois and painted red.
I would also like to see this car surface.

That is F'ing cool! It's the kind of news we been waiting for!

Is it disrespectful to ask if this what a part a the fatal accident?
If it us disrespectful I delete it right away!

Was it a runner when sold. And was it as it was when it left Dan?

  28. Wade - Sorry to hear about your dad. '77 was almost 40 years ago, a long time to be without him.
