I'm talking about those hot rods that are built using parts suck as fenders, grills, quarterpanels and tail-sections from other cars. Maybe there's an actual term that describes these cars...

    Here's one for inspiration.

    Flak?! These cars are badass...

  7. The Frankenstein connotation might not set well with the guys that build these custom rods. HRP

OK, I get that part, but some guys might see it as a badge of honor. Is there a better, more commonly accepted term for them?

By the first pic you posted I believe you are talking about show rods. There are some pretty cool show rod threads. I never get tired of seeing pics of the Atomic punk.

Someone on here was doing a narrowed, fenderless early elcamino that is BAD ASS - also, ive seen a grey hemi powered chrysler along the lines of the '59 olds in OPs original post - i like the "show rods"

I was at the Street Rod Nationals in '76 with my chopped, channeled, fenderless '30 Model A coupe. And I saw that Ardun-powered Crosley kick ass in the "streetkhana" (which today would be called autocross). It sounded wicked, ran like a scalded cat and handled like it was on rails. The title of the thread said "frankenstein hot rods." I'd say the Crosley fits the bill. I would also say it's sad that HAMBers don't know how well-known this car was back in the day. Nothing more irritating than Johnny-come-latelies lecturing us on the history we lived

    Ok, how about Barris-Culture-Customs.
    Giving credit to the man!
Or, Hollywood Customs as most were made for some hollywood promotion.

That's NOT the Orbitron, Buzznut. The Orbitron was a Big Daddy Roth build. That's the Futurian by Mark Moriarity.

Here's a disaster I saw at the CHRR a couple years ago. I refer to it as the Atomic Flunk.
