What GREAT coverage of outstanding vehicles! Thanks for all the cool and detailed shots Moriarity! Hopefully the weather there is better than it is a couple hours South East of Indy been raining for a couple hours here. Joe
Is the show invite-only? The quality of cars seems awfully good for a show that anyone can get into. Also, how are the Mercury fender teeth put on the skirts on the two tone Merc above? Wouldn't they be too deep, do they have to be cut down? I've seen it done before and I like the look, just wonder how it was done.
Not necessarily "invite only," but your car does have to be approved beforehand to make sure it is traditional. Can't wait to get out of work, home, and get the '60 ready to head up tomorrow.
That's part of the fun of a road trip, Doc. Bummer that the caps fell off and you didn't know. I have some great memories of going on road trips to shows with my friend Charlie. Seems like he was always having to stop to chase a hubcap down the highway. On one trip, an aftermarket Lancer seemed to pop off about every 60 miles or so. Amazing thing is that no other car ever ran over it when it launched and it didn't get real beat up and scratched as it rolled down the highway on its own. Also, the flipper bars never got broken! That's part of the reason we sometimes called him "Lucky Chucky". Good times..........E
Thanks for the coverage! I'm not a huge custom car fan usually but holy smoke, some of those cars just take your breath away - the Lincolns, the Dream truck, the purple and white shoebox....... incredible. And that's just in pictures, I can't imagine how good they look in person. Wish I was there.
Isn't this Ed Wedicamp's (sic?) '53 Oldsmobile? Does he still own it? He was interviewed at the '86 Leadsled Spectacular and he told of all the modifications to it. Unbelievable! Eventually I was going to cover it in my "What Ever Happened To..........?" thread, but now I don't have to because we all now know that it's alive and well. Still looks great! E
