Geezers at the Grove 07/02/11

 

The white '55 Chevy is very nice, downright pristine for its genre... I've been to the Maple Grove oldies event in the past and had a good time... Drag Racing Underground's webmaster Rusty Ebberly went to yesterday's "GEEZERS AT THE GROVE" and claimed the "car show" element was pretty strong, however, there was some serious downtime on the track that didn't go over that well with the paying spectators... Nobody ever said it'd be easy to put on a nostalgia drag race... Thanks for the pics...

Brian Beattie's restoration of Jim and Alison Lee's Great Expectations from Geezers at the Grove.

 

The "Great Expectations" fueler looks nice and certainly "period correct" at the Geezers' event... Here's another nice lookin' "period correct" fueler, the Chevy powered "Hemi Hunter"... The slicks are just starting to spin and this digger is gosh darn dastardly purdy!!... I'm definitely psyched for ETown's Nostalgia Summernationals coming up July 24th...

The July Eagle Field doesn't look good for me, the aftermarket OD on the truck took a crap. I need to re-gear the rear end and go back to a one piece driveshaft (I don't need either the hyper-low first or the 8-10C cost to rebuild the OD anyway). Unfortunately, this'll still chew up a couple months' hobby coins.
I'll make it if I can, but I ain't holding my breath. Barring some form of a minor miracle, I'll see you next in August.

If they do it again next year I'll be there with bells on.


Gary, have you been reading the HA/GR threads lately? There's an SDRA car being built out here, and perhaps another if ThingyM decides to go that way. As we've discussed, street hides'd make your car SDRA legit, with little change in your ANRA O/W game. Whenever the first one shows up you could pop a pair on and immediately have two cars out here to start the class with. It'd give you another game to play, being part of another new nostalgia class out here. Us and the SDRA cars'll run together just like we do now.

Yeah, I know I'm sounding like a vacuum cleaner salesman. You know how I get about this sort of thing.
Anyway, it's a thought.
