Today found this station--built in 1936--wonder what it cost to fill the 39 in 1939--full service probably too.

well my folks had a new 2 story 4 bdrm home built for $5600 in 1943 in the Chicago suburbs. A new 1939 buick special coupe cost $986. Gas was about .20 cents a gallon and the Ford cost about $800. Gas may have cost more in 1939 dollars than what we pay now.
