So here we are. Once again welcome to Mart's Garage. Six months ago I bought a heavily seized Ford Flathead V8. I tore it down. I learnt to use a boring machine and fitted liners. I cleaned up all the parts and built it up using used parts virtually all the way through. It's been a fun and interesting six months.
I've fitted it in my 33 Ford five window, so come and join me today as I take it for it's very first drive.

If you watch directly in Youtube the like and subscribe buttons become available. Obviously you're going to be needing them. Leave a comment too, it's nice to see what people think.

For those on social media please share with your friends. I believe that is what people do these days.

Bumping this thread makes a big difference too.

Thanks to all that have accompanied me on this journey.

  3. Good job Mart ,
I think it works great .

I was suspecting either a bad plug wire or a sticking valve guide ,,,,I never thought about a couple of wires crossed .
I’ll bet it does have more power now,,,,LoL.
And considering that almost all the parts inside are used,,,,and you did all the block work at home,,,,,I think it is a success !

And on the pressure,,,about 10 psi at idle,,,after warm up is not too bad .
Some guys only have that after a $10000 rebuild ,,,LoL .

Glad you figured it out the plug wires .

Way to go Mart! Going to miss my Friday coffee with you in the shop because you’ll be out and about driving.

I was wondering if you had put more gas in before you went for a test ride, guess not.

Way to go Mart . and way to pay attention and spend money on the important things (cyl sleeves) and know when you could get by with using the best used parts. Now that is hot rodding and common sense all wrapped up in one.... good goin man
