Took my '58 Chevy pro street truck on a cruise yesterday with a couple of other guys. Five old hot rod pickups out for a cruise in a rather remote part of Maui: the South side of East Maui, which is also the South shoreline of Haleakala Volcano....

I've also been posting some cruise vids in other threads that I was taking last year when out and about in my '55 gasser, thought I'd post those here also:

Started this vid at Rice Park in Kula, went out through Keokea to the Sun Yet Sen Memorial Park, then back through Kula to my place in Pukalani.

Most of it is pretty boring, as there was traffic and usually a couple of cops. And the vid makes it look like I'm going a lot faster then I actually was. But did manage to actuate the elec. cutouts and hit it a little a couple of times. I cut the vid up into seven segments, probably the first is the best one. Although the third and fourth are out on a narrow curvy two lane where I got it going pretty good a couple of times.

This is a vid I did earlier last year that is a half hour casual drive from my house around my area, through the towns of Hailiimaile and Makawao, and back to my house. It is huge, so I cut it up into 7 segments. Nothing exciting here, just a ride in a noisy, clattery, fast rust-bucket '55 gasser, with a big motor, and where I was cruising, no way I could open it up. Segment #5 if probably the best one.

So I put all 7 segments on youtube. There's not much exciting going on here. It does give a bit of a tour of the area of Maui where I live. Segment #1 is the view of Maui from my house and a bit of my yard. Kinda personal, but thought I'd put it up just for laughs, and to give you an idea of where I live....

These are "unlisted" postings on youtube, but these links will work for anybody who has them:

segment #1, my yard and the view from my house,

segment #2, from my house to the Pukalani Shopping Center,

segment #3, loop thru the Pukalani Shopping Center,

segment #4, from Pukalani down Haleakala Hwy to the Hailiimaile turnoff,

segment #5, through Hailiimaile and up Baldwin Ave., The first part of this clip probably has the best run footage....

segment #6, through Makawao to Pukalani,
    http://youtu.be/5YPFiMxxPTg

segment #7, back to my house in Pukalani,

Anyway, posted 'em so you could take a peek if you are interested.....
    Aloha,
    Willy

Thanks for posting the vids. I watched a few of them and now I feel like I was visiting with an old friend who moved to Hawaii a long time ago. Seems like a beautiful place to live in a lot of ways but I might miss having more open roads.

I've been to Maui a couple of times. I don't know why I am always surprised at how many cool cars are there on the island.

  6. Cool video's. I was in Maui about six months ago. I was surprised how many hot rods and bikes are there. It's almost like I thought paradise didn't have cool cars. lol I even found the drag strip and motocross facility.

great videos, I plan on relocating to Hawaii with in the next 4 years. Probably Maui or the big Island will be the spot. Both have great open stretchs for cruising.
