Got a 96 Cop Car given to me. Complete. I think the track may be too wide though. Anyone got any specs or pictures of this chassis being good for anything?

I hate Fords as well, so the drivetrain is for sale or trade.

A guy I know just bought a 52 chevy widened 10 inches and lengthened at least that much. That's slipped onto a late model impala chassis. Supposed to be featured in rat rodz. But it got some pretty sloppy metalwork. But he said it handles and rides great. Not really a traditional car but kinda neat. All metal cleared over with a chop top too. Came outta Kansas city I think.

  4. if you hate it so much, give it to someone who needs a car to drive!

heh...that's what I did with the 93 CV I had. my brother's tenant has been getting good use out of it for a few years now.

  7. Ran into a guy at a car show that had a 63 Galaxie. He said he used the whole Crown Vic chassis underneath the Galaxie body.Seemed to fit pretty well.

Its a junk deal, its had alot of body parts cannabalized. We were storing it, and the bill has exceeded the value, so they just forfeited on it.

I think these cars do handle and drive well, but the driveline and everything else is going to go. If the track is not too wide, I'll use it for something.

Track is like 67.5 inches? I've got a set of 14-inch FWD offset wheels in 5x4 1/2.

Anyone got the track measurements on a '46 Chrysler 4-door? I saved it from the crusher, the outside sheetmetal is fine, the doors close good, but the floor is non-exsistent, and the front suspension was sitting in sand for 30 years, so its fossilized.

So why not clip the front end and be done with it? Beats hacking up the body to try and fit it on top of a late model frame. Just my opinion.

Rocker to rocker its rotted out. The rear leaf springs actually rusted until they broke off. The body is exceptionally sound though. I believe someone used it to store fertilizier on the inside.

I was just planning on making a floor out of new sheet stock. I've done been through trying to adapt a modern floor pan to a vintage truck. Its a pain in the ass, and you seem to always be welding on seam sealer or something else that smells awful.

If that's the car I think it is--- it was listed on F-Bay and thoroughly bashed on this forum!

You mean the coils rusted thru? Or the coil spring mounts rusted through? These cars don't have leaf springs...and if the coil mounts rotted off, what else on the frame is rotted out? Those frames are notorious for rotting out on the passenger side torque box.

If this isn't a deal where your heart is set on doing it, I'd avoid it at all costs.

It has rear leaf springs, but they've rusted off the frame, and are hanging by the back spring hangers. It has no floor except the transtunnel. It sat with no wheels in some sand for about 10 years so the front suspension looks like its been cast in one piece.

I've already went through one chassis swap, I just intend on putting this one together and getting it rolling/steering and letting it sit until later.

To the crusher she went. Set the forks of a John Deere front loader on the roof and mashed as hard as we could, but the roof just wouldn't give in. I might've kept it had it not been a Ford, but they built nothing but shit in the 90's it seems.

The motor was junk. I did scavenge the true duals with H-pipe for another project. Got a huge electric fan and two steelie wheels as well.

I hate everything built in the 90's, but of the domestics Ford was the worst. I've dealt with these damn Crown Vics, Rangers, Explorers, Escorts, etc. for too long.
