I like road trip threads. Need more pictures as you head back home please.

  5. You need to spray that radiator black,so you can't se it through your grill. Takes away from the nice grill. IMO...

I wonder how the trip home is going?

  7. Made it home last night. I have 1,200 pictures to sort through and hope to post a few later. All went well. 5,200 kilometers (a little over 3,000 miles) and nothing broke.
    Wierd.

THE GUY WITH THE SUGGESTION ABOUT THE DARK BACKGROUND BEHIND GRILLE IS "RITE ON"
You seem like an OK guy,, don't be so damn sensitive.

It's only temporary, unless it works...

Great Story, till you feel ya got slammed for the dark remark..every one of us are row monitors, some just with hold.. my .02 cents.

  14. It's an inside joke. Bob's a good shit. :D
I may indeed paint the rad. It was a major rush job to get the car ready for the trip.

  15. Thanks for posting!

  16. More pics and stories!

In this pic, the metal bracket atop the radiator, did you make that or is that from a particular car?

John the piece that sits right on top of the radaitor does look like it came off a Chevelle size car out of the mid 70's. It looks like he bent up a piece of metal to go in front of it to direct the air through the radiator.

The piece running across the top with the top of it shaped like the underside of the hood that has the horns hanging off it is a factory Mercury piece that kept the air from going over the top of the radiator.

What a great story, let's see some more pix!

  21. Hi guys. Been super busy since I got back.
Yes, the piece on top of the rad is from a 72' Chevelle and I just made the rest to direct the air-flow thru the rad. That + an aluminum rad and BINGO. thermostat opens at 160 and that's where it stays. Sitting in LA rush hour, 85mph... all the same. Very happy with it.
Anyway, took almost 1,500 pictures and have a lot of stories. Much more than I'm putting on here. Did just over 3,000 miles, virtually trouble free. Best road trip ever. Everyone we met treated us like royalty. (Thanks Bad Bab)
    On to the pictures..........................

That's it. The Readers Digest verion on my road trip. Would I do it again? In a heart beat! I hope to go to Gambino's sit down next year. I've got Good-Guys 25th just South of Seatlle in three weeks. Then sadly the season up here in the great white North starts winding down. Oh well, on to the next build.
