went to pick up a old spe starter for my old woody digger im getting looked up and here what I thought was a old a100 turned out to be this crazy build from the 70s.they used it to pull and old f/c on there tour of tracks.its been sitting for the last 20 years till last weekend.straight axle under it darn near looking like a gasser its a old 66 Chevy van the cut way on it and put on a old dodge pick up box. Just have a 6 banger 3 on the tree and a 10 bolt. Plan on just straighten the body and nice paint .would like to do a v8 ,if anybody has send me some tips please looks like it take a little work to convert to it cant put it back to stock .
That's pretty wild, I vote, keep the slots and put a new coat of chocolate metallic on it, maybe even some orange and gold panel fades.
^^ Yes and yes. I'm thinking roof wing too but that might be a little much. Pretty sure those were available with small blocks, should be easy.
anybody stuck a v8 in theres? get some nice paint it wheels I think people will like it.yea its differant
holy shit thats awesome! I dig it, would clean it up and make it fresh roadworthy and drive hell out of it.
V8s are tough to get in those vans. The engine space is narrow and transmission linkage would be cable and be pretty far back in the chassis. Big I6 is the best option
Cool find. seems to fit in with era shown in current thread "Looking Back....." think that the 6 motor mounts same as V8, find a trans crossmember from later van or build one. cozy fit. be sure to use lots of quality heat shield insulation.
I think Larry would like it more if you took out the 1/4 windows and put portholes in?? "If this van's rockin' , don't bother knockin' !"
For more information on these Vans try Vintage vans. http://vintage-vans.forumotion.com/forum Nice bunch of guys and most Helpful.
So you are saying: It looks adorable after a radical hot six swap and a LSD? And then autocorrect kicked in. 7w Larry doesn't care much for the number of windows, anymore. To the OP That back end of the cab look rough and needs work, but that is a nice hauler. What does woody digger means? Wooden body on a old school FED?
I dig it! I had a 77 Dodge van done similar. Check out my gallery page for pix. I dont wanna post it here as its a little too OT lol
