Hey guys, Sam Hawley here, author of the land speed books "Speed Duel: The Inside Story of the Land Speed Record in the Sixties," and most recently Craig Breedlove's authorized biography, "Ultimate Speed." Just a heads-up that I'm making a new LAND SPEED LEGENDS series that you guys might like. Here's Episode 1, on "Craig Breedlove's Spirit of America Secret Weapon." I bet you haven't heard this story! (Teaser: interesting connection to Dan Gurney and Indy cars!)

I saw Spirit of America on display many years ago. One funny story I heard was he and Art Arfons returning from a speed run went through a highway speed trap. The officer didn't recognize him and said "who do you think you are, Art Arfons?". He answers "no...I'm Craig Breedlove".

These are both very good reads, just finished the Breedlove book and loaned to a friend who is also enjoying it. The Speed Duel book is especially good.
