I've read it before but what is the best product for filling cracks in an old steering wheel I've relief cut all the cracks and ready to fill them Any help? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I've heard of several different methods but I am trying everglass (short strand filler) on my current project. I've filled, sanded and primed all of the cracks and it looks real good.
This is how I did it. HRP http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=675133&highlight=steering+wheel
PC7 works great, I've tried fiberglass and body fillers and it always cracks out later, have had excellent results with the PC7, just make sure you Vee out the cracks before you fill them. JB Weld holds up nice too, but it's a lot more liquid-y, good for certain repairs but the PC7 holds it's shape better while it's setting up. And let your PC7 cure out for a couple days before you sand it, or it'll gum up and/or move around. You can rough shape it after a day with a razor blade if you're careful to cut down on sanding time.
Not a steering wheel, but a testament to PC7 my hunting stainless steel thermos bottle's cup didn't have a handle on it, so i carved one out of nylon stuck it on with PC7 10 years ago, it has made some trips 18 feet to the ground the hard way(from my tree stand),hot dish water and it's still on there
