Projects COVID Custom Acquisition -'39 Mercury

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by OzMerc39, Aug 11, 2020.

  1. Bloody ripper! Everything is "just right".
Most states, if not all, can have LHD cars made before a certain year. There are still plenty of RH conversions done, mainly for convenience.

Hey Ozmerc, thanks for those excellent pics! You definitely have a good eye. That car is gorgeous. However, I'd be very careful hanging around with those two sketchy guys shown in one of the pics! LOL

  8. I'm not sure when that changed but it has. This is Engineer certified for all modifications including left-hand drive for street legal use. Compliance plate registered.

  10. Nice car. The left hand drive isn't a bother?

Pretty car. Can you tell me how much the top is chopped?

  14. I would think the only downside to that car is that you might find yourself polishing the paint off of it. "Have fun" is an understatement. Cheers mate.

  16. In the 50's customs like this were "Nosed and Decked" and no one used the stock 39 taillights, great car, needs to be taken back to a legit. 50's look. Like the Ron Martinez 39 Merc built by Scott Guildner.

  18. Hey Mike... No the LHD is not a problem at all. It's taking a little bit to get a handle on but I do like the change.

  19. Hi Birdman... No unfortunately I can't. The car was already done when I purchased it. Having said that my estimate is three inches in the front and four in the rear.

  20. :) That is a nice problem to have....

  21. The Martinez '39 looks fantastic. I will be doing some personalisation over the next season or two, but for the moment I am just enjoying owning and driving it.

There’s a really nice unchopped 39 running around Brisbane. But when you see it it’s hard to believe they can be so dramatically and aesthetically altered just by taking the roof down. It must have been so exciting for Sam Barris when he did the first one way back when and started a whole movement that lives to this day.
