Here's how mine looks now.

 

Long ago a guy I knew bought the thrashed red corvette convertible from the movie Body Heat and did this to it. Very....80s.

 

K guys look for listings tomorrow going to list my corvettes! 56 57 62 and 66 good cars for gasser or race cars lots of parts and I'm just too involved with my 33 34 ford projects

The top on 56 is a aftermarket 53 54 just a skin but pretty rare all is going up for grabs!!

Good luck with the sale of the project cars. I have two similar projects that I am in the middle of saving but only find time occasionally to bring them back to life. I enjoy it on one hand but on the other hand I think a few hours at the psychiatrist's office may be in order. Your projects from the pictures themselves actually don't look too bad. Both of my projects were front end totals where they cut the cars in half through the door jamb area. There is metal running through the rocker that holds it all together and when this metal is cut, it wreaks having on getting everything to line up.

Good luck though, we need more early Vette race cars.

This 62 posted above looks like Wally Knoch's 62 that he bought new. His is a black fuelie with wires and a trailer hitch. He used to pull his Fiat altered to the drag strip in the 60s when the Vette was quite new. Not sure if this car is black but the front kind of does and the rest of the pic may be washed out. Notice the bar setup on this car for towing. I bump into Wally on occasion when we both show up with black 62s.

^Seeing those dead Corvettes is heartbreaking.^

I wasn't going to post this photo because these aren't hot rods per se.
Then again, weren't all 'vettes from '56-'72 hot rods? I've seen resto
freaks referred to as "wienies" on this site but thank goodness they're
out there. I hate to see Corvettes like the shards of fiberglass posted
above. By the way, this shot was taken in Downers Grove, Illinois at
Joe Madden Ford in June 1979.

I have no idea if this was modified or not but someone did some nice highlighting of the
body lines with the pinstriping. When I look at this pic I don't see any reason to modify
(or "customize") the body. It was done right the first time.
