A friend's 62 Corvette in 67/68, straight front axle, Corvair steering box, street driven and raced, 331 cu.in. SBC, MT crossram, Isky 505 cam,
12 to 1 TRW's 514 Pont. rear. and those junk trans that no one likes a Saginaw w/3.08 1'st gear ran 11.90's a monster out of the hole but lacked top end. On the street he would try to run short 1/4's. From Syosset NY

Pat pretty cool deal. Would like to find the car today just as it was then. Has so much more character than stock cars in my opinion. Great stance. I have one of those hoods up in the rack. Wonder what car it had been on in the day.

Jim at that time no one ever thought about matching numbers or stock anything. Your right it did give the cars character, he sold it when I went off to Vietnam after I got back another local bought it and then I got married and moved. By 72 it was not around.

Found this out from the Dover site. The car was called "The Prussian" owned by Chip Zellner.

Found more. This is how the Prussian looked in Sept. 2009 at the Dover dragstrip reunion.

My'63...original paint...lucky, lucky find...the photos make the paint look higher quality...in person, you can see the beautiful cracks and fades...by the way, I know of a '54 or '55 tucked in a garage that is about to collapse on the car and the car is in really nice shape...parked for decades...lady won't let anyone near it IMG_1639(1).JPG

In my opinion, there is not a better looking wheel for the C2 cars.
The dark green color on these is also one of my favorites.
IIRC, I saw your El Camino at the Portland Swap Meet with TT D's on it.

  18. I favor the blue C2's, although I always liked that dark green with a saddle interior. I don't think that combo was available in '67, though.

  24. I know we're looking at that beautiful, early Vette (55?) with the nice seat covers, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out the pink '49 GMC PU beside it. The PU is the former custom shop truck of the Gil Ayala Body Shop in L.A., CA, and it graced the show floor of my hot rod club's charity car show in 2012.

Found these on the vintage shots thread today.

from sailingadventure; This picture was taken about 1970. The car on the left is the first Corvette built with a V8 engine, serial # VE55S001001. It was found and restored by my brother and later sold. It will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale . The other car is my `54, E54s001379

Eric Rickman installed an olds rocket motor in his car shortly after buying it.

Did it ever get painted red? I've never seen a color shot of it before. I was going by the hole in the hood... Wild guess.
