    Thanks for the kind words. Other than some vintage performance upgrades, I won't be making too many changes. I had a hoped up fathom blue 60 Vette when this car was being built by a neighbor at the top of my street in Yalesville CT. That was 40 years ago.

    I also love the stance and it actually drives really well. She still has the black tuck and roll interior.

    Interior looks really good. The only change I would make is to go with a Chuck Pelton steering wheel. They look the same only are a smaller diameter and make for a bit more room for guys with a more generous waste or height. I am 6'1" and the smaller wheel helps with finding more room for my left foot when I am kicking the clutch. Jim

    JP I have a rollbar I made in the red car although it does not meet tech. I have had NHRA tech the car more than once though and they said nothing but positives so I am not sure I would pay a whole lot of attention to those naysayers that say don't run with scissors etc.

    The car was built for fun with an occasional trip down the track so I tried to stick with the old three point bars we used back in the sixties. The car is covered up on the bottom end of my four post lift so it is hard to take the cover off and just take some photos. I will be digging the car out soon as it needs some attention (after I get done with the black car). I will take more pictures then including the headrests I had made for the bar. I made the bar removable so I could chrome it easier. You will note the down tube which bolts to a sleeve that bolts solidly to the X frame and still gives the wife room to sit without too many negative comments. The main hoop also has sleeves that bolt to a plate that is solidly bolted to the frame behind the seats. Getting the seats out takes some efforts and many bad words spoken so I am not going to photograph that anytime shortly. Jim Vetrod put a bar in his black 62 that does pass tech so that is something to consider as well. Mine is more for looks.

    Here is a picture too of the smaller steering wheel. I have them in both cars and would not even consider the cars without them. They run $325 with the leather wrapped. I have not problems steering with the old stock front ends (although they have been rebuilt which makes them pretty good). Let me know if you need other pictures of the bar and I will get them. Jim

    Thought I'd share some pics & info of my 1961 Corvette.

    Stored outside in a Hog Shed 1984-2013

    Painted by 19yr old Richie Ludens in 1974 for Gene Lang. Gene brought in a Hot Rod mag & asked Richie if he could make his Corvette look like a featured car in that issue.

    Just before paint they installed headers, Hurst shifter, tape deck & International wheels.

    Car will be shown "As Is" & dirty at Cavelcade of Custom Cinn OH downstairs in Josh Shaw "Survivers Alley" Jan 10th-12th & Detroit AutoRama basement show in March.

    This old '59 Gasser belonged to a close friend who passed away. His family is planning on doing a few cruise nights with it this Summer.

    This was a pretty good running junior stocker. I spoke to the owner at Autorama and he said he hoped to get it out on the track this year (just finished the restoration). The more we can get out old drag Corvettes, the better.-Jim

    Don't know too much history on the car other than it belonged to a buddy who passed away. It was pretty much a stocker/survivor car. factory looking (not sure if it was original) small block with factory dual quad set up. The straight axle was installed by another friend (and Trifive memer) in the late 90's. When converted, the entire stock front end was unbolted and put in storage where it sits today. All work was done with minimal modifications so it could be put back to stock relatively easily if one decided to.

    I'm sure the car will stay exactly as is.

    I currently own the 54 "the redskin" shown in post 347. NOPE, didn't go back to stock, made a hot rod outta it. A 283 with 2 x4's out of my old 60 Vette...... somebody doesn't have a numbers matching cuz of me! Mark Harmon, who originally built the car approved of it now. He said the car was always evolving, and still is. He had a Sox & Martin HEMI in it in the late 60's. He told me I most likely have driven it more than he ever did!

    Great pic. Really brings back some memories. I'm sure everyone here knows that Dianna was with Hot Rod Magazine & Marv Ripes was the owner of A-1 Converters...they were a great team. Thanks for posting Jim.

    A curiosity of sorts. A fellow Hamber sent me this picture a few days ago asking if I knew anything about any such early Corvette differential case. I surely do not. It is alleged to have been fabricated from magnesium by Mickey Thompson and if you zoom in you can see his name clearly stamped. Any ideas or knowledge? That snout appears to be size large. Jim

    Doug could be I suppose. i was thinking it looked like some type of torque tube drive setup but my knowledge of Mickey Thompson is pretty limited.-Jim

    I believe it was for a drive shaft universal shield in a dragster where you sit over the rear. I had a M/T magnesium carrier for an Olds/Pont. rear with the same flange and that is what it was for.
