I think you are correct Metalshapes, those sure look like my top. And here I always thought it was a worthless, cheap aftermarket piece. Hard to believe people still buy them but a restored original is $5k or better.

    oh yeah, thank you

WOW, your car is a thing of beauty. Love the wide wheel option w/ the dog dish caps. Is it an air box car as well ??? I know this post was from awhile ago...sorry.

The car is still a race car and still set up for A/MP with a 403 ci bbc and a 5 speed 9200 rpm and let it fly :D

    cool thread !

  7. Those wheels and tires are awesome. Polish looks great - check the flats on the front spokes. Too cool. Also love the stones it takes to run those tires on there.

Would the ex John Bonham car fit in here? These shots were taken at a local car sales a few months before the new owner wrecked it at an renowned accident blackspot.

    Hey Wally,

I didn't know that you were on here. Do you remember this '63 (from an earlier post in this thread) that was owned and driven by Ron Hadley?

I used to see it at Dave Furthmiller's Speed Shop in Fort Wayne. It ran at the Indy nationals in '64 which was the first time I was there.

Believe it or not, he still owns that car. It's back on the street now, but he does have a tube chassis early 'Vette he races. Him and my Dad have been friends for years and used to race together.

Wish I had some pics of a 60 vette I owned... straight axle gasser. when I bought the car it took two trucks and a trailer to get it home.... traded it for a 65 vette coupe...30year is a short time if you say it fast..

Wally still owns the altered and the black 62 Vette (fuelie) with the ball on the back. I wonder if he still owns the trailer?-Jim

How can they be so boring stock but so cool as gassers and hot rods?

Doug, thanks, For some reason the 34 coupe seems to ring a bell. Don't know why to be honest.

With the custom front end and all of the work done on this car to run modified classes in drag racing I would find it surprising if the car was taken back to real stock. Could have ended up a bit of a street rod I suppose. I still would like to know what happened to the Vette ultimately. Thanks for the response though-Jim

    a little rosiin maybe

i'm not sure if this is the same car/driver as the other i posted above, although it appears so. It's rather short, but i still like it.

Credit should go to: Either B. D'olivo, G. Stiles, P. Brollier or M. Brenner. Not sure which one. If you know any of these fellows let them know i posted it here; If they object, i'll yank it. Again, we are not making any money off it so............

P.S. i think the current funnys have gotten away from the "essence" of the funnycar class in a way.

Wow, that car is really awesome. I love the mid-year ('63-'65) FI unit!! Damn, the '56-'57 Vette is a beautiful design.
