Thanks Bowtie and Jim that sorta clinches it. I could not read the plate only that it started with an "M". It is not the same car.

  4. That yellow color is beautiful. Inside and out
Thanks for posting all the pictures of the wild show Vettes. Close friend not on H.A.M.B., but we both enjoy seeing them. He grew up, in a Corvette family. His Dad building and showing NCRS quality cars. He’s a traditional hot Rodder at heart. Had a mild Custom ‘67 Roadster project, but had to part with it, to buy his house.

I wonder how many old Instamatic photos like this are in shoe boxes and envelopes
across our mighty nation. When I go to garage sales I sometimes ask if anyone has
old pics like this. Haven't scored yet.

LB if it is up for discussion I would have to say it is a miss. I am a fan of the look of the 300SL gullwings but not sure I like any of the other attempts. The mid year was a great looking car in its own right but then again customizers liked to push the envelope so they may have felt they succeeded. Not sure I like the spine down the center of the grill either. Our tastes are all different of course but if I needed a mid year I would pass on this example.

For sure it is "different" no idea if it is famous or who built it wasn't quite sure if I should post it or not LOL.

From Tom Davidson right here on the HAMB back in June of 2008 in the 60's show rods thread
"Not a great photo, but...John Baehr's '63 Stingray gullwing built by Doug Thompson in Kansas City, mid-60's."
    Followed by this:
"Here it is as shown by next owner Tom Webb. I painted the panel scallops and it toured most of the Larivee circuit '70-71 season. Does anyone have photos with this paint job?"

I'm with Enloe, even if it's just because it's a throwback to another era. Kustom Corvettes
weren't always good looking but they are (now) generally interesting.

    Loudbang, keep posting them!

Received my January 2019 issue of Hot Rod Deluxe yesterday on the coverage of the 2018 Meltdown and saw that there is a picture of my black car when I lined up against a sprint car. It is the second time my black car made Hot Rod Deluxe at the Meltdown Drags and probably the last now that the Meltdown Drags has been cancelled.

The magazine felt that the Sprint car deserved to be highlighted which may be understandable with the unique aspect but in the sake of even treatment how about a picture with the Corvette in the foreground. It is nice to see that my header extensions I made (as I was creating too much dust) look period IMO.

Here is the magazine picture. 025-2018-meltdown-drags-kurtis-sprint-car.jpg

And the picture from the other angle.
