Rocky, The Standard Auto Supply 57 is Gianino. The picture is a bit fuzzy to read whether he was running CM/SP. If so then this was around Indy in 1967 when and where he won class. In 1968, when they did away with M/SP he moved into D/G (occasionally D/A) and not only won class at Indy but also street eliminator. If you can make out the class you can somewhat date the pic-Cool car. This is the car that was recently located allegedly in Illinois.-Jim

Rocky I thought it looked like M/SP on the lower quarter but could not read it. If so, It had to be late summer through late 67 only. In the spring of 67 he ran Midwest sponsorship with a hardtop. No M/SP in 68-Jim

thanks Jim... ps i got the pleasure of cleaning my 67 box, model a , and finally the 58 vette . man i got to tell ya the curves and body lines on the vette just feel so right . just constant flowing on the hand . first time i had the cover off in a real long time . what a bad ass body style . loved them as a kid when i built a 60 vette around 64 or 5 from mpc kit. seems like yesterday i was about 8 years old painted black might still have the box floating around here :)... also had to put some accel. pumps on purple haze thursday too . that 57 is lil easier getting in the engine bay than the 58 of course im so dang small

Hey Rocky. She (or he) looks vicious. Looks more like a "greeter" than a protector. :)
    Corvette looks great !

We had some wonderfull times in the late 60s running street elim. at New England Dragway. It's great to come on the Hamb and see two of the Corvette guys getting there names out there after all these years! Doug and Eddie were both great guys and very tough competitors.
I asked Doug recently if he ever regreted converting his Vette back to stock, His answer was immediate, BIG mistake should have left it as the Hayseed he could still be racing it at nostaliga events and having fun with it.
Bill Friel, great to see you posting on here, for sure I doubt anyone knows Doug any better than you do.

The early Vette's as Stockers, Super Stockers and Modified Production cars were the BEST!
And then there were the ones' built as Street Freaks, LOVE 'EM !

This car was a gasser. Steve Korney replaced the Anglia body on his gasser with the Stingray body.

Yes. The car was found intact and then restored.
