Well, the OP's first few examples were cars he bought/built, and it though he didn't specify, it seemed to be the theme. Looking back, I now agree with you that it quickly turned into another "sitting and rotting" thread with everything from cars successfully saved/bought to random old car pics lifted from the internet. Thread probably should be merged to keep all the goodies in one continuous "official" thread.

Years ago, the 'Sunday model thread' was started fresh every Sunday. Sometimes several threads were started in the same day because late comers didn't see a previously started thread that day (this happens a lot with obituary threads). It got real messy. I proposed a single, ongoing thread to house the weekly contributions. It's worked well. Readers can easily page back to find older builds and easily post updates to their ongoing projects.

  2. I saved a high option one just like that a few years ago from being scrapped. I paid 50 bucks for it and made about 500 selling parts off of it.

  3. ALLLLLL' the mindless, stupid "what color should my wheels be ?" ..... or what pocket should my car keys be in .... threads started here .... I hardly see the value of arguing semantics of thread inspirations or similarities.

There's a thousand Model A builds. Put all of those on one thread ? Paint threads with spray cans ... that too ? Identify this hubcap threads ? Alot of work for THAT.

Since when has every co contributor stayed always on topic? Thread posts started with the OP's intentions frequently get derailed. It's the HAMB. Some people don't read in their excitement ... but if an interesting HAMB topic ... more power to them.

Karl Knecht. KKRod. Knecht Equipment .... his former fabrication ....and casting company. Karl's decades of historical rod discoveries .... builds, rebuilds and contributions here ... and within my city .... I'm interested in anything he posts.

Regardless of similarities of other, equally interesting threads' popularities .... and argumentative thread supporters ....

Don't like a thread ? Say your peace/piece and move on. If you enjoy yet another thread ... bump that post and keep on posting. I like the other threads. Great. I'd still rather see a dozen similar topics come up as this .... than yet another "what cupholders do you put in your HAMB ride"?

I'm here to see progress. Interest. Finds. Builds. Inspirations. History. Etc. Lots of etcs. Why ? Because I'm a poser. A parts gatherer. A rookie horder. A master dreamer. A dad with wooden nickels. A guy useless in keyboard warrioring ... but meticulous in 10 year car building. It is what it is.

Please delete my post moderators if I'm out of line ... or seen as argumentative. My point is :

One squeezes a zit ... or leaves it alone. I care less about how it arrived .... or what shall remain if it's gone. Its a zit.

  4. But....I don't have any zits...:(

Wow, looks like it could be a driver pretty easily. Looks like a grown up Valiant.

I'd sorta like to have it, but it'd be difficult to drive without a steering wheel, haha. I'm thinking transportation to Alaska would be a bit more than it's worth to me too. Cool car though, someone wants it, no doubt.

This is when I brought this home in 1993. Found through a newspaper classified ad. Still have it and have shown more current pictures on other threads. In 1993 the going price for something like this (if you could find one which was really hard to do) was near the 10k to 15k. 25 years ago that was still a lot of money in today's dollars for basically a project.

Fabber Mcgee and others, The idea is not to replicate another large thread. More of a what you owned or own. Especially those that are hamb member's cars. I put in some other photos because they were cool project material to me along the same theme and will probably continue doing that. Many people including new people and old people like me do not ever look at the old or massive paged threads while others live by them every day. Keep posting folks.

A few cars from the North Land where I found my '49 Mercury. Untouched since the late '60's and waiting for somebody with more ambition than sense to come and save them!

A friend bought a low mileage '61 almost 40 years ago, and looked for half a dozen years for a taillight lens for it, the only part it needed, before finding one. Nice save.

  18. I dunno, it looks like it’s fairly solid so someone might be able to make a custom out of it.

  20. This 34 mopar was in Marv;s body shop 'till one night a drunk hit the building and knocked it down. Have no idea what ever happened to this body. marvs34plymouth.jpg

  21. Found out one of my buddies had this old stock car body stashed next to his fence. Made me a deal on it and I liberated it. ROCKYS32ASFOUND.jpg ROCKYS32.jpg

  22. A guy was going to scrap that?

I think the taillights alone would bring more than the car would over a scale, and those things weigh like 5000 lbs.

    '33 & '34 roadsters I found & dragged home in the late 60's. 12509450_556900964475254_3108447237062020906_n.jpg 12049503_573484562816894_7790706014617661664_n.jpg

Dago 88 Dang! you know how to hurt a guy. Those '33 and '34 roadsters are out of sight. And the '40 Ford Ute is killer. I think that seeing pictures or owning pictures like these in a way is just as good as buying the cars and a lot less expensive.

Would love to know more of the story of how you found these if you want to chime in some more. How much were they worth in 1960's?

  26. My dad's cousin bought this model A new, used it around the ranch and retired it to the barn in the 50s. My dad bought it and did a total restoration on it in the late 80s. Was stolen and never recovered. Apickupbefore.jpg rockysabone.jpg

After looking for years, I finally found a coupe I could afford on Craigs close to where I live.
Someone barely beat me to it and broke my heart, but unbelievably the original owner called me 2 days later asking if I was still interested in it. HELL YEAH! The dude that bought it realized it was more work than he thought and was looking to get his money back. I dropped everything and hauled ass down there before I lost it again.

  28. I found the 29 pickup at the edge of a cornfield about 20 miles from my house. Brought it home in pieces and began setting it up. Some guy drove by, saw it and gave me 20 times what I had in it.

Bob (Lincoln Brakes)Wilson bought the '32 5w coupe shown on the left. Bob eventually sold it in the same condition to a friend of his. It is still awaiting it's resurrection.
