    I hope that one doesn't have a goose for a hood ornament!

    @Sky Six I very much appreciate your offerings but this one is a Hood Ornament and while some Rad Cap Mascots Double as Hood Ornaments this one does not but here's another Thread to post these...
    I am very big on supporting threads fellas have put together that have fallen by the wayside but still pack a punch...;)

    Thanks I saw that...don't you dare take any of those cap pics away though...:D

    The detail on these are truly amazing...

    I'll leave that post up so those with Hood Ornaments can find that thread, there were lots and that one was well received...Cripes people are complaining about bringing up old threads now...why...so many are Gems tossed by the wayside...

    Here's one currently on Ebay. It's reportedly a Yellow Cab Manufacturing radiator cap.
    Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Or anyone seen a radiator cap that mounts like this?
    I've done a lot of research on Yellow Cab Manufacturing and have never seen an radiator cap or hood ornament on any of their taxis and/or trucks.

    I don't doubt this had a connection to the YCC...it's just an evolution in corporate identity...a Fleet of Cabs of a particular era and I would suspect anywhere from early 1900s to 1920s would be in the ballpark for this particular cap...now the Coachbuilt link does not highlight this Cap however many of the Cabs showcased did have rad caps and MotoMeters present...it was probably a run of several years...and being painted not a flashy era either...

    Thanks!
    I did some more poking around today. Yes, it is from Yellow Cab Manufacturing, well actually Yellow Coach Manufacturing. It was from the bus division and featured on some of the early 20's busses (before being bought out by GM). I found a couple of pics that kind of show the cap

    I'm not quite sure how it attaches to the radiator. I'm guessing there is a large central bolt that goes through those crossbars. If my buddy wins the auction we are going to try and adapt it to this 1924 Yellow Cab Manufacturing panel truck;

    :rolleyes:...to many the Radiator Caps were just a Cap but being little Sculptures many with characters involved to some they became good luck charms or Mascots...it is interesting when stripping down the Daily to a Hotrod Street Warrior that the Caps many times survived the transition...

    Stogy, I know the focus is on the radiator caps but is that a flathead Caddy or Lasalle under that hood? The way those pipes come out makes me think it is.

    So, my buddy was the successful bidder for the Yellow Coach Manufacturing radiator cab. It got delivered on Saturday. This thing is a monster. The shipping weight was 7.5lbs. Right now its painted a light gray but appears to be nickel plated brass underneath the paint.
    From what I've been able to learn this was originally on the Yellow Coach Manufacturing busses in the early 20's (before they sold to GM). Yellow Coach Mfg was a division of Yellow Cab Manufacturing.
    The base of this cap is approx. 3 1/4". My buddy is planning on adapting this to fit the radiator of the 1924 Yellow Cab Manufacturing panel truck. It should look pretty good.
