What are some of the coolest hood ornaments you have come across? Here is one I have floating around in my files.
Heres my all time favorite. Early Packard. Maybe not as cool as a pig with wings though. Mid 30s Desoto, i love the Art Deco look.
I'm not sure what car this one was on: This one was on a Dodge, I think: Pretty sure this one was on a Plymouth:
Here is mine that I will run on the 32' shell, that will be going on my 30' coupe. I think it is killer!
figured it out its a george petty hood ornament. they were on nashes not bad for a 7 dollar buy ...jones
Not a true 'hood ornament' but an ornament on my hood!! 1952 Sinko bug deflector & speed dail on my 1953 Chevy.
The '54 Dodge had the largest pair of ram horns ever on one of these ornaments. They had to be cast separately and attached with machine screws.
Here are a few I have photographed over the years. I have more but not tonight. 49 Pontiac 33 Plymouth 37 Nash 35 Studebaker 50 Ford 41 Chev 48 Cadillac 53 Ford
Not entirely sure what this was originally on but it's my favorite that I've found so far. It's what I'd actually like to put on my 50' Ford once a get the money together.
A couple from my collection. The first is from a 1931 Dodge Brothers. It's a VERY rare item. Made for the first six months of 1931. Then went to the very popular leaping ram. The second is for a 1932 Chrysler Imperial.....
I'm partial to unusual radiator mascots from the era that had them actually sitting on radiator caps. I'm always on the lookout for something that could be modified to adorn the nickel-plated Deuce shell that's planned for my '31 A project. Here are a few examples: Hispano-Suiza, "La Cigogne Volante": Packard, "The Pelican in her Piety": Voisin's "Cocotte", of course: And then there is Lalique:
This Snoopy ornament I cut out with a oxy/acety torch. I plan to modify the base to look like a surf board and then, have it chromed.
my odd '37 aftermarket ornament I found. there are 23 other models out there..these are very rare apparently.
