Been talking to Lee about doing this to my gasser sedan since nobody seems to want to pay anything much for a sedan even though it costs the same to build as a coupe....
the build is by Steve Roberts from England he is a quality builder i have seen some of his other projects Steve is doing a great job of converting this sedan to a coupe
With the price of coupes un-touchable for so many and the re-pop business only getting bigger........Are they soon to be stamping these out as complete steel bodies like they do with so many other classic's?????? Just wondering....
Well Lee does have the stampings for all of the Willys panels and he's been talking about selling complete bodies!
Doing a great job Steve with the help of Lees great panels, i imported that 40 from South Africa with a few others and is now gona be a killer coupe well done guys.Got a few more sedans in stock if anyone wants one.cheers Wayne
I think some of you need to understand the difference between stamping a body panel and forming one. Stamped body panels are stamped in a press - for example, Brookville panels are stamped in a 750 ton press in a preformed die. Lee's panels are hand formed and shaped over a buck - wood or fiberglass. So whereas Brookville's panels are mass produced, Lee's are hand made using his considerable expertise and skills as a metal shaper....
Is there a way to blow the article up so we can read the captions? My son and I are well on our way with a 40 sedan and any new info will help!
I orderd the magazine just for this article , this thread with the new pictures has more info than the mag , the article has no info in it. Would love to see some pictures of russthetinman's project!
Steve is going to send me pictures of his build as he progresses when he does i will get them posted for you all to see if you click on the article picture it should show a bigger picture so you can read it
Just wundern if things are any closer on the Coop ? I may be fitting stock steel coupe doors into my 37 Sedan so these roofs and alterations intrest me ! Anything custom interests me ! Great job ! Lee and Troy both have parts into my cars and those guys ROCK ! Couldn't do it without them ! Rob
Actually Jeff , I will be down that direction in a couple weeks ! I just picked up a real decent 37 sedan I am doing a quick build on and if I like driving it I may stick Coupe sheet metal on it . I have enough to either build a good 37 coupe or a good 40 coupe ! Might need some more small things from Lee though
