Converting positive ground to negative ground - Questions

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by VolksRodder, Jun 22, 2004.

  1. Well, I decided to swap out all the old brittle/bare wiring in the Merc with a new Painless harness.
While I'm at it, I'd like to see about converting the stock positive ground setup to negative ground. Anybody got any tips on doing this? I'm not too electrically challenged... but I'm definitely no pro.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. [IMG]

Is this also a 6volt to 12volt conversion? Are you going to be using a generator or an alternator? And check your PM's

  3. It's already been "partially" converted to 12V (just the basics). Has an old voltage-drop panel on the firewall for the remaining 6V accessories (fan, etc). Plan on upgrading to all 12V stuff and getting rid of the voltage drop panel.

I'm currently running a generator, but would like to change out to an alt.

Just got done reading your PM you sent... Thanks! good info!
