I have an old foot triggered pnuematic rivet press that was used in the past (by the county bus garage) for doing brake linings. Seeing as how I don't re-line brakes and don't need the brass and steel rivets that came with it, I've wondered what other uses I might get out of it for working with sheet metal. Anyone have experience with such a thing? I can post pictures next week if that helps. I would guess it to be at least 40 years old. Thanks.
I picked up a couple from a brake outfit a while back - plan to make a deep throat shrinker/from the one pictured. A guy called Per Lovgren (https://www.facebook.com/metalman.sweden?fref=ts) did one a while back using some innovative ideas that allowed him to still use it as a rivet press - tooling swaps out in seconds. I think there was a thread on allmetalshaping.com about how he did it...
Eric Vaughn converted one to a louver press over 40 years ago. We used it to punch the louvers on my RPU, and it still works great.
