Any pics out there of closed truck cabs converted to roadster cabs? Just mulling over how I want to handle my windshield. Previous owner had cut the top including the windshield posts of this 28 Model A cab and I'm thinking of using roadster stanchions if I don't cobble something together. Just curious how others have tackled it.
I still don't have a windshield on my coupster so, I took this pic at Billetproof Florida a few years ago...should be easy enough to fabricate
NO! Just sell/trade your closed cab and get the real thing. It will look like shit and ruin a perfectly good truck. A closed cab pickup with the roof hacked off will never look like a real roadster pickup.
I'm not cutting it up, I bought it this way. Just deciding on how I want it to look. AJ, that pic speaks a 1000 words. I've just been thinking about the standard A window frame and trying to make it work. That's pretty simple and easy to fab.
Do a search on here. Neal in California describes in detail how to do what you are talking about only with a 32! I'm sure some of his ideas could be useful to you.
Thanks for the suggestion, what a great thread! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299603 I now got the hamster running full speed in the right direction.
My avatar is one,not finished.Believe it or not I cut it with a hand held chop saw. Cut it proud and left enough for finish body work. Door opening shrank, which I haven`t addressed yet.Good luck with yours.
I'm gald that this subject was brought up. I have a butchered 30 cowl and considered going down the same path.
The guy that I bought my Sport Coupe from welded steel pipe on the cap the doors and on the windshild header. What wasn't butchered was ravanged by cancer. I had no choice on my budget but the make it a coupester.
