Well it's only the end of January and we're having a very mild winter for Southern New England! We're still driving the cars! This is nuts! Keep your jacket on it's only the end of January!!!!!!!

I lived in Connecticut for years and the next two months could be full of snow.

I remember the day's of building home around November 2, and the snow was coming down so hard we could not see the other side of the foundation.

I will be in Connecticut in March for a short vacation.

The 7th Annual Putnam Main Street Cruise
    Putnam, CT
    August 12, 2012
    8AM-5PM
    Free Admission for all.

The majority of the downtown area streets are shut down for this show. Except for last year (which was a victim of weather and rain date snafus), well over 500 cars usually show up. The variety of cars is incredible! Downtown antique shops and restaurants are open for business during the show. It is definitely worth a trip to the "Quiet Corner" of Connecticut. Putnam is right off of I-395, easy to get to from Massachusetts and Rhode Island as well, so you usually see many cars from those states attending. I highly recommend it!

    Can't wait for that!

As for the Putnam main street Cruise; i truly hope they put a website together and have a much better way of notifying people if the event is cancelled. Last year was a complete joke and many cars showed up, only to be turned away, and the weather was quite nice.

From what I was told, the cruise (on the rain date) was cancelled at the last minute due to the "chance" of rain that afternoon by the organizers. Unfortunately for us, the show had been taken over by the Town of Putnam rather than the Tri-State Cruisers (I think that's their name) who had successfully run it all of the prior years. The decision was made so last-minute that the website still had it going on the morning of the cruise. A buddy of mine and I went up in his O/T '72 Monte Carlo and found that many people still stayed around and put on an impromptu show anyway! There were still about 100-150 cars there in downtown when we arrived, with many more that came in as others left. Guess the town officials didn't realize that car people are a little more hardy lot than they gave us credit for. Hopefully, lessons were learned last year and the show won't be cancelled just because of a "chance" of showers.

the first Colchester cruise is tonight if anyone is interested. It's on the Colchester Green in the center of town. We won't be able to make it but it's always a nice cruise and a great night out. Can't beat this weather either!

What do you mean? :) The cruise at Colchester is a really nice one; everything from tradition hot rods and gassers to stockers, barn finds, original A's and T's, and restoration rides. We like going because its a nice drive, nice show, and good eateries in the area for dinner.

From what I was told by a very good source the cruise was taken over by a single town employee for last year he figured he could do better than Dick from Tri State did! Dick and his crews have been putting on great cruises and shows for more than 30 years! I think the town learned a hartd lesson and Dick Tri State will be given back the reins if there is another down town cruise, Then again there's lots of nice big open spaces in Pomfret!Tri State could always head there !
