Lonnie Butts packing the chute for the Twitch-A-Wee Competition Coupe. The Dragmaster One Thing competing in AD can be seen on the left. Note drive gears hung on front axle as ballast.

  2. Drilled the axle to lighten it, then bolt on a bunch of weight???

Trackside tuning. Might not need it all the time, use what you've got. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

  11. Possibly. I would like to know the thinking on how they are mounted.

Not everyone had a trick that worked , or right. Hard to tell what a lot are thinking, when the do it.

That was my thinking too. They probably weren't too concerned about cornering or body roll, but softening a big smack down might have seemed pretty important. Or they might have used 90/10 shocks to maintain weight transfer and their chosen location made the mounting light weight along with fast and easy to build.

That is the shadow of the drag link passing over the pipes, making them appear to be dis-jointed. Look closely.

Rd, I've seen that Crosley myself at the CHRR, odd and cool at the same time.
Not sure if I've actually seen it run, may have been a cackle car, I've been to Famoso so many times I can't keep the who, what, when straight.
We might have walked right past each other there.
