    It starts with a chop!
It needs 2 more inches taken out tomorrow.

That’s going to be one wild ride. Definitely a white knuckle crowd pleaser if it gets a plenty of HP and is driven hard.

I decided to take one more inch off of it today. 5" chop!
I didn't want the rear widow to be a mail slot, so I chopped around it.

My late friend Tom Willford owned that when he passed, it is the remains of the car I posted above. Don't know what happened to it.

I love how he left the door handle on it. I am going to leave my raingutter attached, I'm also going to keep the door gaps on mine.

    Chassis engineering most likely legal.

    Hello,

If it is like your other builds, this is going to be a fun trail of hard work and a great project. Good luck…

In the hey day of Competition Coupes before they were run out of town, the builds were all different. The top West coast builds belonged to Harold Hungerford, Eldon Dye with Don Hampton driving/wrenching,
Bob Brooks from Bixby Knolls also had a yellow 671 Potvin style motor set up in his Bantam coupe.

Harold Hungerford black Bantam was rare, but, as the years rolled on, Bantam Coupes were becoming popular in the Altered classes. But, not too many had lengthened chassis set ups for the Competition Coupe classes.

The ones with the longer frames were the dragsters disguised as a Competition Coupe and had bodies, like Bantams, on for the ride. The motors, being as far back as possible and not a heavy weight sitting in front of the coupe body.

The group called Competition C/S were those highly modified coupes and sedans like So Cal's Eldon Dye and Leffler-Loukas from the East coast.

Most of the early builds were rail dragsters with a body attached to the frame/motor. The name of the division was selected as Competition Coupes and Sedans, then Competition C/S. Most were coupes as sedans had more weight in steel bodies before fiberglass versions rolled into the scene.

That it is, but the owner built a certified frame.

  21. Did you buy it from Marec (I'm not going to butcher his last name)? He was the winner of the give away at the meltdown. He also had a cool street legal comp coupe.

Tough call, I think I may want to shorten it from 112" to 98"

    It's coming along really nice!
Personally I'd go with the longer wheel base.
It just looks meaner with the body having a slight rake.

I like this car and I like the rake but I feel like mine will be a twin.

I wonder how it'd look with the original wheel well filled in -- back of the tire and even around the back side.
