    Hi
If you are coming into lovely Morris Illinois for the pileup... Here are some things to do while you are in town.

    On Liberty Street...

Obviously, the Red Cent will be hosting pileup activities like food, drinks and bands.. They will have a special Pileup Buffet which is sounding better every time i hear about it.

A couple blocks south of the Red Cent is a sub shop called The "Bigger Bite" 721 Liberty Street, which is quite good, a bit slow in making sandwiches, but well worth the wait.

A bit fancier dining is another block south, Chapins 701 Liberty Street, is a great place to sit down and have a good meal, food is better than decent and the staff is super nice.

Of course there is the old tried and true Corleones sandwich shop right down by the old bar and courthouse.. the old bar is now called "Tully Monster" or something like that.

Sams Pizza is one block west of Corleones.

There are a billion fast food places north of town on rt 47 .. a culvers, taco bell etc etc.. a few subways thrown in here and there..

Things to remember, parts stores are only usually open till 12 on saturdays, there are a few non chain ones in town, and a couple others.

    The bars close at 1pm..

The Morris Lions Club holds their annual Car Show and Swap Meet 5 miles west of the wall mart on rt 6 the Sunday after pileup.. Which is Sunday October 12th ... wake up with your hangover.. go the "R Place" to get some greasy eggs.. then head over and support the Lions Club. Their swap has some good stuff, i always find A parts or hot rod stuff there.

If you need help with anything, come see me "Magnet", i grew up in that area and can probably help out... or find someone who can.

Hope ya'll come and have a good time, stay safe, watch for pedestrians.

    C ya there

Which one is Liberty St? Is that the main drag N and S thru Morris? Where is the Red Cent in relation to Fools?
Also, can we get party wristbands beforehand?

  5. Also don't forget that the Red Cent has arranged to have a special buffet each night to feed y'all. Burgers, Chicken, Veggie Pasta, Brats, Chips. $10 per person. 6 PM - 9 PM each night. I hope people go for that so the owner doesn't think I'm an idiot.

I'll wearing my specially patented t shirts over the weekend...

"Dumb Whore.. more fun than Christmas"
"The Brains behind the Operation and the Boobs in Front of it"
"Breeder is the Brad Pitt of Wayland, MO"
    and
    "Got DW?"

Safe travels to all... I can't believe it's less than two weeks away. Yikes!

  6. No wristbands before hand, sorry. The bar is managing that part of it.

Liberty street is the main street - same one that fool's is/was on. they renamed it by the way. It's now called the Tully Monster

Anyway... yeah the Red Cent is just a few blocks from there across the street from the lumber yard and right near the tracks

There's an AutoZone on 47, and nearby, but not well marked, is a little speed shop called the Golden Mile or something like that if you need something autozone won't carry, like a throttle cable.

Bars close at 1... so hang out with us at the Red Cent until the bands are done, then go back to the many parking lot parties in the hotel parking lots... but don't do burnouts in the parking lots by the rooms. The smoke gets sucked directly into the ventilation system of every room!

The main drag is 47. Liberty is a couple of blocks west of 47. Liberty is the street Fool's was on. Fools was at the south end of Liberty, by the park/Police station. Red Cent is at the north end of Liberty by the railroad tracks. It's a small town. You'll find it! ;)

  9. Thanks for the info. At my age you need all the help you can get. Hope to see you there.
    Later,
    Dick

The Siver Slipper is right there just off the highway.. in Ottawa ... where 71 meets the highway... bring some singles..

Its been a while since i have ventured out there.. when i finish my pan in the spring we will have to add the slipper to the list of titty bars for its inaugural run.

DW and 'Fish.. you didnt read the part in my post where i said bars close at 1 and the Red Cent has a buffet?

    Anybody like Cajun food?

Years ago we found a great little place in Utica (about 35 miles straight West of Morris) called the Cajun Connection. It's a little hole in the wall kinda place, but the food is fantastic & reasonably priced. We go there every year when we're in the area for the Pile Up.

Note - They don't open until 4:00 on Fridays.

Lots of great places in Morris too, but this is something a little different!

See ya in a couple of weeks! :D

No, I saw it, I was just emphasizing it to promote hanging out at the bar FIRST. DW was just emphasizing the wonderful spread AT the Red Cent, trying to garner support for the bar.

I think its called Marias Pizza .. Turtles Tap used to be good, i havent been there in years.. so it may suck.

On the safety issue, It is against the lab to do burnouts and throw flames on public streets in Illinois, also a bunch of other things too.. blue dots, bumpers fenders etc etc. Keep that in mind, also the local Morris police just had to put up with 35,000 drunk people last weekend at Corn festival.. so they may not be feeling charitable.

The rules at the pileup will be posted at the entrance, both criteria and fairground rules.. no pets, no fires, no midget porn, no fuckin around, etc etc, but i have to emphasize this year.. NO GLASS CONTAINERS. We were warned two years in a row because of the number of glass bottles laying around at the end of the show. We dont want to have to inspect everyones trunks and coolers... you can bring as much booze into the fairgrounds as you want, but it cant be in glass, buy cans, use "Gaux" cups.. whatever... just dont bring in glass. Please.

We will have a TON of kids running around this year, so no burnouts, drive safe and slow. Gravel flies hard and fast, we haven't had any accidents so far, and we want to keep it that way.

Once again, if you need something, have an emergency or whatever, grab a Chrome Czar or Catherine and we can help out.

And i also want to emphasize.. go to the Lions club swap.. its worth it.

Great now your going to have a bunch of guys poking each other's eyes out to grab Catherine :D

    Look out for grabbers.....

  25. Sweet! :D

    Something to look forward to!

The Command Center at the Pileup will be staffed at all times, and they will be on radio with the Czars and myself... when in doubt... hit the command center....

Besides... it's a great place to visit BobK from 9 AM - 11 AM.

  26. Last couple times to the Turtle Tap sucked. Food sucked. Service sucked.

Anywho, looking forward to checking the Red Cent and bands out. :) Oh yeah, and there some car show with a hunnert cars or something. :D
