Colors that jump out at you??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fitzee, Feb 16, 2011.

  1. Looks like Ford brought back something similar to the creamy looking Wimbledon White, I've seen it on a few F150's. I'm thinking about using it on my 36 pickup with red rims and a cherry-red interior. I had a similar combo on a 65 Mustang and always got compliments on the combo.

"Burnt Pumpkin" on late model Ford Rangers, and Dodge (thats a verb, not a noun!) "Intense Blue Pearl" that all the other mfg's are trying to duplicate, and Cadillac "White Pearl", but that Willys with the Schwinn blue may end up on my new parts chaser (2.3 turbo'd '93 Ranger Splash).

I'm not very flashy so flashy colors don't do it for me. But I do have some recollections of colors that made a big splash when they came out.

The first one for me was Honduras Maroon in the early sixties.

Then in 1966/67 Marina blue was a biggie.

I fell in love with a 67 Corvette color Lyndale blue and painted my 63 Catalina this color.

In 68 Pontiac's Verdoro green made a big splash.

Me... I'm sort of a plain Jane beige type of guy.:D My custom mixed 34 P/U. My buddy called it "Turkey Turd Tan"

Turkey turd tan... ah ah ah! good one.
Theres a really really nice metallic copperish color from bmw called Marrakesh brown, here it is.
Not suitable for what im buildin but would look great on a late 40s early 50s custom.

What's wrong with Black n Chrome?

Chrome might not get you home... but black will get you back :)

Henry Ford put it best... you can have it any color you'd like... as long as it's black.

this is going to sound crazy but i LOVE the red on my 2003 Jeep Liberty.

There's nothing pearl or metalflake or "special" about it. It just pops. Its a great paint.

the damn thing is 8 years old and it lives in the climate of the northeast and it still looks spectacular. My boyfriend always raves about how great the paint on it looks all of the time and its a bright, bright red but in the light it is just stunning. it's like looking into a mirror.

I really like the blue shade on my '07 HHR. Has a gold metallic in it, similar to a '40's Ford blue, but without the metallic.

ANYTHING but the camo that seems to be on ALL new cars! Just sit and watch traffic on the interstate, 99 percent of vehicles on the road BLEND in with each other. If we had more color on cars, like our hot rods and jalopies, probably wouldn't be so many crashes! Sorry, I am finished ranting now. peace

Blood red, when it 's coming out of my arm after hitting it with the grinder. That color jumps out at ya!

On a car, Years ago, it was yellow, probably still is. But I do like that metallic copper orange they have now. I like that green on the new camaro that was posted already. Some of the colors on the new mopars aren't bad either.

The wife still likes that salmon color.

In the 60s I had my red 64 Sport Fury painted 67 Ford Lime Gold with a faux spray on black vinyl look roof. The combo was awesome and one of a kind. Lime always catches my eye, new VW bugs had a nice one a few years ago.

Toyota Sea Foam Green. I'm painting one of my OT vehicles the same model as the above picture that color. Reminds me of a decorative toaster :p

  28. Mazda has some great colors on their MazdaSpeed line, also the green on the new Camaros are nice, my favorite are from Lexus, one looks almost just like candy Brandywine but with more brown, and the other is a dark pearl olive green.

  29. Isn't this color close to the late 40s Mercury p-ups? Saw one @ Billetproof in 2009 - looked super.
