Following from Jay.S's thread http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=640544 Great color shot of a Coup and Roadster.

I was wondering what folks had color photo wise of the '40s thru early '60s era? Pre-1935 Rods particularly.

I love the Hot Rods of The '50s Book by Andy Southard Jr. and was thinking others must have photographed 'Rods' in color during the same period.

  7. These next 3 were taken by me on a Sunday afternoon at the Pomona drags in 1959. These cars were typically what you would see in the spectator parking lot.

Excellent folks. Love the 'Moon Disc'/Hub Cap era Rods. An era when your caps could reflect the motor you were running.

I don't know, but I am presuming the magazines of this era took many color photos but obviously published most of them mono/duo tone. Anybody know of such 'mag' photos published in books? Hot Rod , Car Craft etc.?

I sold the car in 1968 to man in N.H. for $800.00. He sold it to someone he worked with. I was talking with a man about has model A coupe. And toldhim I had one like his and sold it back 68. As I told him about my car. He said I owned that car for 20 years. Sold it and the guy that bought it crashed it.
Then about 20 more years went by. And I was reading the Want Ad and saw an ad for a hot rod built in the 60s.This sounded like my car so I called on it.
I asked him if it had 56 buick port holes in the rear wheel wells. I had put them there for the brake cables. So I was off to RI. to see it and maybe buy it back.
He said he picked it up in N.Y..It was my car. But it was more then I could stand to see it. It was sad to see how the owners had butched it up.

Geez, I need to find that negative, Dean.
I remember that day like it was about two months ago.
What a great time to be a dopey kid at the drags.
