I am thinking of painting the coupe, I am thinking leaving the frame and engine black and the body, shell dark green or blue maybe a tan. Would love to see some other colored coupes on a black frame for reference.[IMG]

Looks good to me. I like one color on a-v8s. My pops has a 28 roadster on 32 frame. His is all one color. Not that my opinion matters. Haha!

Apparently it's against the law to paint the frame black on a highboy, if the body isn't black. I googled it...there are none.

Not all cars are nice enough to wear shiny black. If an all black car is getting to you maybe think of changing something else besides the body color or adding some color to it. How about a bare aluminum louvered hood, some subdued pin striping, different color wheels or hubcaps. Car looks bad ass as is.

Yeah, pretty damned hard to improve on that.
Maybe a set of unpolished mag Halibrands or Americans but other than that.......

Leave it alone! I did do my deuce highboy pu with a satin black frame, gloss black suspension and a satin cement green body with satin black grille shell. I like it but apparently no one else does as I can't get a smell with my for sale ad.

I love it the way it is but if you do paint it my vote is for Washington Blue.

If the car is on an A frame, then a black frame under color body can look ok. But sitting on a Deuce frame, with the body even with the frame, it looks dorky.

That laid-out nicely! Did you cut and buff it?

How long has it been, and how is it holding up?

We had a small-chain out here called Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH), until Lowes bought them up, and killed them.

They had a house-brand of spray paint that was vastly superior to any that I have encountered.

Well honestly I think it looks amazing the way it is and wouldn't touch it. To me it is a very clean refined looking hot rod that I wish I could call my own. However if you aren't happy do what makes you happy even if it pisses everyone else off LOL.

Looks great as is. But... Before I put color on it, take it over to the Photoshop thread and let one of the experts paint it like you said.. Then you will be able to decide with ease.

OSH had the ABSOLUTE best fastener selection short of a nut/bolt warehouse.

Do what you want. I'm going red on a black frame.

2 things you can count on at a car show 90% are either black or red.

I'd Photoshop it a nice darker tan with matching wheels and red painted ford in the caps.

Proven hot rod color. I've used it for years ! although in your case i wouldn't change it.

i couldn't disagree more with a black 32 frame and any body color, including red primer( the last i checked was listed as a color) looking dorkey. all this time i thought the american graffiti coupe was the definition of coolness

  30. Red primer & brown Rustoleum mix with black frame. HRP
