    2.254 miles.

  3. use a larger gauge wire. There really is no "too long" three feet wouldn't be a problem.

When I first saw this, I just assumed he was asking about the secondary wire. But after reading it again, there is a chance he was asking about the primary wire. It'd be nice to know specifically the one he's asking about.

no problem running it under the dash.

Just make sure to insulate and protect the wires properly.

  7. Had my coil inside the cab on my avatar, no problem with wire length but be careful with the heat generated by the coil, they get hot!! It's now mounted outside on the firewall, like that better!

My older bud bought a Fad T, no engine/trans; finished car, but Frank wanted it 'perfect'.
He installed a fresh 327, 400 TH trans, rewired and fixed everything.
After a couple hundred miles, car would stall and not start for an hour or so...
I looked it over, (std. Delco dist., but coil was 'hidden' under the wooden seat riser)
Hotter than a 2 dollar pistol! Touched it quick...Frank said, "Hot?"
I replied, "No...just didn't take me long to look at it."

Just use a big grommet where it goes through the firewall.

I had it on the inside on my 33. On firewall under dash. No heat issues. If you want to test resistance, check ohms on a short 6 inch wire, then test the longer one you'll need to reach the inside coil. I've found on spark plug leads, not a significant difference. MSD has a spec for acceptable resistance you could look up.
