Has anyone used clr cleaner on cad plated parts with success. I have some
taillight housings I had cad plated a few years ago and they have developed
a small amount of surface rust.

  3. I wouldn't do that inside. Might try it outside or in a well ventilated area cause you never know what kind of fumes you might get.

  4. CLR is acidic and it will remove your cad plating. However, given you have rust means that there is not any cad plating on there. BTW, you probably do not have cad plating, it has been replaced by zinc. Best is either paint it, or replate with zinc and a chromate coating. Chromate can be clear, yellow, olive drab or black. The underlying zinc is silver metal color.
