Features Clone your favorite race car and make it street legal.

  1. Stu Hilborns "lakester" comes to mind, but, it would be tough to get the right look AND have any front suspension...... May not need any when I'm in Phoenix, but, the car would get rattled apart up here.

Its been done to death and back...some good, some great, some close, some only in decals, some shouldn't have bothered..Most would not know of what was cloned unless you had a display of some sort to educate people; you know like magazine articles, eight by ten colored glossy photos...If its what you want to do...

    already doing it:D

took a old dirt car chassis & putting a 48 mopar body on it to make a street legal dirt car.

the red one is close to how it will look when she is finished, hopefully real soon.

    Later

Probably would be Carrillo Roadster?? Maybe a '57 Ferrari 625 TRC but I think that actually is street legal?

Not a race car, and not HAMB friendly, but I have always wanted to clone the Suncio Chevrolet LT-1 Vega that Car Craft road-tested in '72. A few Baldwin Motion clones out there too, but a little too flash and a little too obvious for me.
Cloning lettered race cars for the street has always seemed a little pretentious to me.

The Malco Super Vette. When you say street legal you just mean lights and a license plate right ....

It's gay in my opinion... you're just advertising for nothing like wearing a Chevy or Ford shirt. :D

I always wanted to take a 55 Chev 2-door and builld it like a 60's alsphalt sportsman car. Wide fives , big tires, body dropped over the frame, radiased wheel wells, etc. No numbers, decals or roll cage , I just always liked the look !

:DOk, ok, I'll admit it...I was thinking that, but elected to be a little more subtle in my delivery...;)

When I was young this was my dream hot rod. Remove the snorkle and stuff the hood sides with louvers. Perfect

You can be subtle but it's still gay...:D Just like fake faded letting on an old truck so it looks like service vehicle.Or any of the "look at me I'm fucking cool" styling tricks you see..
Of course this is my opinion and it's none of my business how anyone chooses to dress up their vehicle... But I can still laugh as you cruise by with a fat tattooed arm on the door, slumped down looking bad ass ..

Thank you...I spent a few hours with Bob Pierson in Bonneville in 2006...a real privilege. I drove my "Pierson look " F 100 out there from S. OHIO. I've never seen the coupe in person...always admired it from afar ! My pleasure is the build ...now , as you can see...it's ready for someone else to enjoy. Thanks again for "getting it" Jim S. Ohio

  28. Another one for me would be Art Gerricks lake modified 23T on the parallel leaf Chevy frame. I'm using my Kindle , otherwise I'd post photos. I think a guy here on the HAMB owns it. It would probably be far more practical to pull off than the Hilborn car. It's one of my favorite modifieds, but, I'd like to finish it a little more if I were cloning it.
